“Where the Sky Begins”
Part of the “Where the Sky Begins” series
A Celebration of Faith, Courage, and Surrender
“Where the Sky Begins” captures the luminous moment between doubt and flight — that sacred breath when the heart hesitates, then dares to rise. It is a painting about trust — in yourself, in the unseen, and in the quiet grace that carries you when you finally let go.
The hummingbird, suspended above a mirror of water, glows with tones of aqua, red and gold, droplets trailing softly from her tail like blessings released. Every shimmer speaks of surrender — of the beauty found not in certainty, but in the courage to leap. The words by Erin Hanson: “What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?” encompass this perfectly — a whisper of faith that turns fear into freedom.
This piece honors the tender power of trust — the kind that doesn’t demand proof, only presence. It reminds you that flight is not about escaping the ground, but about remembering you were made to rise.
Key Features:
- Emotional Depth: Evokes feelings of hope, trust, surrender, and gentle empowerment.
- Symbolic Imagery: The hummingbird in motion symbolizes courage, divine guidance, and the grace found in release.
- Message of Empowerment: A reminder that your wings are already strong enough — and that the sky begins the moment you believe.
Having “Where the Sky Begins” in your space is an invitation to trust the unseen — to remember that every leap is an act of faith, and that the sky begins where you decide to rise.
Artist’s Reflection
This was the first painting I ever created — the beginning of it all.
I didn’t know then what I was reaching for, only that something in me wanted to rise. The hummingbird became my symbol of trust — a tiny, trembling creature that somehow knows how to hover between worlds.
The words by Erin Hanson have always stayed with me:
“What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?”
They remind me that faith is not about certainty — it’s about surrender. This painting has become the perfect metaphor for my life -taking the leap before I feel ready, and trusting that something, somehow will catch me.
To create, to live, to love — all of it is a quiet leap. One that we should all take.
Truth: The sky begins where you decide to rise.
