I guess that’s maybe why I aim to make art that makes you feel like anything is possible, and to just do what you want in a kind of “fuck what they tink” way
Dàna Rùn
When I decided I wanted to be a full-time artist, I decided it was the perfect time to reinvent myself. What better way do achieve that than choosing a name that represents your true essence?
Dàna
Dàna (Dah-nuh) comes from Scottish Gaelic meaning bold, daring, courageous. It may be pretentious on my part to choose that name for myself, but to me it reminds me of everything I’ve had to overcome in my life. It reminds me that even when I feel like I can’t, I actually can. And choosing this life for myself, choosing to become an artist and put myself out there requires me to embody this name even more
Rùn
Rùn (Roon) comes from old Norse and means secret, wisdom, magic. I love the idea of something you can’t quite grasp consciously but understand subconsciously – something that you just connect with, because that’s what art in its essence is to me. A connection you can’t explain but feel in your soul, something hidden and magical.
I’ve chosen a name that comes from 2 cultures that I feel a strong emotional connection to – they were/are 2 wild, free, untamed cultures, bold and unapologetic.
I feel like a large part of that spirit has unfortunately been lost in the modern world, and I hope to honor it in my own small way through my art
